A clear guide to self-custody

Your device
is the login.

No password to remember. No account to hand over. Just your Trezor, Trezor Suite, and a moment to verify it’s really you.

Your recovery words never belong on a website.

THE BASICS, MADE SIMPLERead time · 4 min
A different kind of access

There’s no account
to break into.

Trezor Suite is the interface. Your hardware wallet keeps the keys and gives final approval. That separation is what makes the login flow different.

01 / DEVICE FIRST

No wallet password

Your device protects access. A website or app cannot sign transactions on your behalf.

02 / CHECK BEFORE YOU CONFIRM

Verify on the screen

Check important details on your physical device. Reject anything that doesn’t match what you intended.

03 / KEEP IT PRIVATE

PIN stays with you

Follow the PIN prompt on your device. Never enter your recovery words into a login screen.

From plugged in to ready

Four steps.
Your keys stay yours.

The exact prompts can vary by device and software version. Follow the instructions shown in the official Suite app and on your Trezor.

VERIFY
The one rule to remember

Your recovery words
are never for login.

Keep your recovery seed offline and private. No legitimate Trezor login needs you to type it into a website, share it with support, or send it in a message.

Read Trezor’s security guidance
NEVER SHARE YOUR SEED
A quick check before you retry

Something not working?

Start with these simple checks. Never share your recovery words to fix a connection issue.

Suite can’t see the device

Try a different USB port or a known data-capable cable. Connect directly instead of through a hub, then restart Suite.

CONNECTION

PIN isn’t accepted

Pause and carefully follow the prompt shown by your Trezor. Don’t guess repeatedly; consult official Trezor guidance before taking further action.

DEVICE ACCESS

You lost your device

Your recovery backup is essential. If you need to restore access, follow official instructions using a trusted device—never enter your seed on a website.

RECOVERY
Good to know

Common
questions.

When in doubt, verify instructions through Trezor’s official website.

Do I need a username or password?

No. Access is authorized with your physical Trezor and the steps shown in the official Trezor Suite app. Keep any separate app security settings distinct from your recovery seed.

Does Trezor Suite ever need my recovery seed?

Never type your recovery seed into a website, computer, or message to log in or fix a connection. Keep your backup private and offline. If a prompt asks you to reveal it unexpectedly, stop and verify through official Trezor support resources.

What if my device is lost or damaged?

Your recovery backup is what allows wallet restoration. Use only official instructions and a device you trust. Do not share the backup with anyone, including people claiming to be support.

How do I know I’m using the real Suite app?

Navigate to trezor.io yourself and follow its Trezor Suite links. Be cautious with search ads, unexpected messages, look-alike domains, and apps you did not verify through official channels.
